Eric Fouache is a professor of physical geography and geoarchaeology at the University of Paris-Sorbonne and vice-chancellor of Paris Sorbonne University Abu Dhabi since 2012.He is based in Abu Dhabi. He is Board Member of the ‘’Alliance Française ‘’, of the French schools Lycée Louis Massignon and Lycée Théodore Monod. He is an Advisory Board Member of Flashes magazine. He was Board Member of the French business group from 2015 to 2017.
He was previously professor at the University of Paris Ouest – Nanterre (Paris 10) from 2008 to 2011, and at the University of Paris Est – Créteil – Val de Marne (Paris 12) from 2002 to 2008, and at the University of Paris-Sorbonne (Paris 4) from 1995 to 2002 as senior lecturer. He was chairman of the IAG working group on geoarchaeology from 2001 to 2009 and was chairman of the French Group of Geomorphology (GFG) between 2004 and 2010. He is now President of the International Association of Geomorphologists (IAG) and a Senior member of the Institut Universitaire de France.
His research is related to geoarchaeological, palaeoenvironmental and palaeogeographical subjects in the Mediterranean, the Black Sea, the Near and Middle East, and central Asia.
Eric Fouache has published two books as single author and more than 100 scientific papers and book chapters, including more than 50 in international peer-reviewed journals. In 2000 and 2007, he received an award from the French “Société de Géographie” in Paris for his books.In 2012, he was awarded ‘’Professeur Honoris Causa’’ from Bucharest University in Romania.In 2015, he was awarded ‘’Chevalier dans l’ordre des Palmes académiques’’
