Al Khor International School (AKIS)
Owned by Qatargas, the world’s largest producer of liquefied natural gas, Al Khor International School (AKIS) is a co-educational, non-selective, nonprofit kindergarten through secondary, established in 1999 as a purpose-built facility, exclusively for the children of Qatargas employees.
AKIS is fully licensed and accredited by, and complies with, the State of Qatar’s Ministry of Education and Higher Education for its British curriculum, Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) curriculum, and kindergarten provisions. AKIS is also accredited by the Council of International Schools (CIS).
Located 45 kilometers north of Doha, the school’s grounds are set amidst the landscaped gardens of Al Khor Community, a gated residential complex comprising three recreational clubs with onsite gymnasiums and restaurants, convenience stores, and other amenities. Al Khor Community enjoys one of the safest, well maintained environments for families in Qatar.
The school is spread over five, exceptionally well-resourced buildings, boasting twenty four seven security, 200 classrooms, five libraries, three swimming pools,
two grass football fields with athletics tracks, 18 science laboratories, 15 ICT rooms, and a range of other dedicated educational facilities.
