Nadia Szimhart is the Head of History and Coordinator of Gifted and Talented at Safa Community School. She is also the Head of Critical Thinking and works to support all teachers in extending all students to develop effective critical thinking skills. She has just completed a post graduate dissertation on Global Citizenship Education in Dubai’s private schools. This study, completed as part of a master’s degree at the University of Wollongong Dubai, has given her insight into the possibilities Global Citizenship Education holds for students in metropolitan societies.
Today she will share with you her observations of the best practices in Global Citizenship Education in Dubai’s private schools. She will outline how highly effective programs support students to develop deep critical thinking skills and an understanding of the interdependent nature of global societies. She will also discuss the pitfalls and dangers associated with implementing Global Citizenship programs.
